11th year’s a charm

We were celebrating 11 years together (12 if you include our first year high school totoy love affair). Anton and I were stressed that week. It was the second week of December 2019, which meant for me that there was much to be rushed before the company-wide holiday shutdown, and for Anton, a string of construction problems he had to deal with, which was normal in his line of work.

Like many years before, an anniversary to me was always an opportunity to pop the question. Who wouldn’t have that in mind, when you’ve been together for several years? The 2019 anniversary was no different. But just like the previous years, there were also no signs of it possibly happening.

#editoriallog: dreamy botanical luxe

Another haggard BTS coming your way, as manifested in my weirdly shaped, one-side-swept hair and tired eyes. After this shoot I was left with off-white, muddy Supergas and a cold. The weather this day was unforgiving, with intervals of sunshine and pouring rain, but this beautiful feature on Tricia Gosingtian and RG Gabunada still shined after the storm.

Jacqs Florals did an amazing job with the flowers. I absolutely loved the floral chandelier and the floral wall, which, by the way, is made of artificial flowers. The details, like the invite and napkin holders by Valerie Chua were also standout details in this feature. Even the dresses of Hannah Kong and suits from Signet were on fleek! The perfect combination for a fashionable couple like Tricia and RG.

#editoriallog: fleek and fetch

Right after our Solaire shoot, we went straight to Hillcreek Gardens, Tagaytay. It was editorial number 2 of our 3-day editorial shoot. Those are 3 different shoots, with 3 different set of teams. I was so overwhelmed with the amazing people I got to work with for all. It was extremely tiring and the weather was bipolar, but being in beautiful venues with amazing wedding setups and suppliers just makes you forget about that.

This theme is more of the hipster, geometric type. It’s more playful than the usual themes we would do which I liked, with the unconventional suits and dark, sleek looks for our bride. I also super loved the gold geometric details and air plants!

ps. The second photo was just a stolen shot, also by Bryan.

#danielaeats: il gallo nero

Tagaytay has always been a go-to for quick getaways. Whether with friends or family, the city outside Manila has its way of calming our minds and temporarily but not totally shutting out a good amount of regular life, distancing ourselves from the chaos. We may not be on a remote island where signal is totally off and we have no choice but to socialize face to face, but the slightly slower pace and quietness of being a little high up has the tendency to make us voluntarily put aside our phones. This vibe and numerous good places to eat never fails to make a good yet brief getaway.

One of the places my family and I almost never fail to go to when we’re there is Il Gallo Nero, an Italian restaurant just by the entrance of Royal Tagaytay. It’s a very small restaurant connected to Alfonso’s Hotel that could seat possibly thirty people comfortably. There’s an airconditioner available, but in all of my visits for dinner, it has never been turned on and the restaurant just relies on the cool breeze of its location. In front of it is just the road that leads to Royal Tagaytay Estates, and across the road, untouched land, so the place is void of excessive noise and is overflowing with the cool Tagaytay breeze. The perfect spot for some cold cuts and wine.

#danielaeats: cafe voila

Forgive me for going a little photo crazy in this post; it’s hard not to shoot a lot when you’re in Cafe Voila where everything’s Instagrammable–from the unique miniature figurines, brightly coloured Balinese lamps, multi-colored goblets, recycled placemats, and beautifully printed material on the couches and pillows, to their well curated food presentations, utensils and kitchenware. The place feels very homey and artistic, a very comfortable place to enjoy a good meal with the cold breeze of Tagaytay.
