A lot of us often make trips to Tagaytay to enjoy the cool air, relax at a rest house, eat at some of the known restaurants like Breakfast at Antonio’s, Antonio’s Fine Dining and Sonya’s Garden, or just to make a quick trip out of the city. It’s not so much of a burden making the trip since it takes less than two hours to get there from Alabang. But while you’re on your way, you might want to stop by some of the lesser known places along Silang, Cavite to check out some natural homegrown products you can use for your house or as remedies.

Abundant Place

You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the line of white drapes with shells and other capiz hanging outside by the street. If you’re wondering where Sonya’s garden gets their beautiful white capiz hanging around the garden, this is the place to find it! They actually sell the capiz at Sonya’s, but better if you go straight to Abundant Place in Silang, Cavite to get them at a cheaper price.

I didn’t get to try the Garden Cafe, but I went around the place to see the garden and the different items that they sell.

There are a few small houses within the garden and also some outdoor spaces for functions.

The place has a rustic homey feel to it that I like, with non-matching pieces of furniture, bamboo and intricately printed pillow cases and table toppers.

I wasn’t able to get photos of the other items that they sell in the store, but they also have cute bags, pouches and other house decors.

Ilog Maria Honeybee Farm

Another place my mom and her sisters visit often is Ilog Maria. This is where they buy different natural made products like citronella, honey, soaps, shampoos, and other bee products that have medicinal value and can be used as natural remedies.

So far the only product I’ve tried here is their citronella to shoo away mosquitoes. I have yet to try their shampoos and soaps, but my aunts are loyal to their Ilog Maria products and regularly have it shipped to their places in Manila.

I didn’t know much about the benefits of drinking honey, but Anton always had me drink it with lemon and hot water every time I had a bad cough. It was during this short trip that I learned that honey also helps with burns, and allergies, and that drinking it helps a lot with strengthening the immune system and cleansing, so some people drink a tablespoon of it every day. Even my maid from the province said that they keep a suitcase of honey in their house as a quick natural remedy to any ailments they have. Something good to have available at home, then. It doesn’t expire so you can stock up on it when you pay the farm a visit.
