Last month Anton and I took a trip to Marikina because I wanted him to try Rustic Mornings. Since our plan of making it to breakfast didn’t happen due to unexpected traffic, we arrived at the place in time for a really late lunch. It being my third visit here, I already knew that I wanted to have my Three Mushrooms.

My dad got Three Mushrooms the first time we visited Rustic Mornings and when I tasted it from him, I loved it and thought to order it on my next visit. I don’t know if I set my expectations too high this time around, but when I had the dish, it didn’t turn out to be as delicious as I remembered. The mushrooms were a bit cold and dry, and the flavour a bit bland. The bread was slightly warm but I would’ve preferred to have it a little more toasted.

Anton ordered the chicken dish. He wanted something light and I wanted a waffle so we decided to share. The waffle was just as good as I remembered it to be, fluffy and crispy, and Anton enjoyed it a lot. The chicken and the salad were just okay.

We also got the artichoke for sharing. It was good, very creamy so a bit heavy, but it was a good thing to share. I thought that maybe the bread was left out for a bit before serving or that the bread was kind of old because it was cold and hard to eat.
There were some highs and lows in our meal but we just didn’t feel like having anything exchanged because we were eating lunch at 2PM and were starving. I never encountered anything off in my previous visits, so maybe it was just that one time. I’d probably go back still to try more dishes but will opt to make a morning visit like my previous ones because that’s probably when everything’s more fresh.
